Hmmm, maybe I should suggest we start playing with allowance money Although, they're getting pretty good at it, so I might be on the losing end of the deal!

Yup, these are trying times. It's a shame that it takes an economic downturn to make people think about consuming, and spending less. I find I enjoy the challenge of seeing how little I can spend to get the same level of satisfaction ... anyone can spend money, but being creative, and solving a problem with your mind, instead of your pocketbook, now that takes skill I like to think about how my Nana would have solved the problem !

Some of it though, might be as simple as lowering our expectations. I have friends that wouldn't think of wearing second hand clothing, or getting rid of their house cleaners. I do without both as I would prefer to have that money in my own pocket. My floors might not be as clean, but I'll just dim the lights so nobody can see them But to each their own. I spend more on kids activities and organics because those are my priorities. We, each, individually, need to determine our own priorities, and spend or save accordingly.
I like to bake ... but, clean the house, not so much.
So the house stays little dirty, but the tummies stay full

This batch makes about 4 dozen cookies. To save your waistline, make about 2 dozen, and then freeze the rest, individually, and thaw/bake when need in the future ... like, say, Christmas

I'll be posting some more recipes soon. I have a killer lemon poppy seed loaf, pumpkin loaf, and chocolate cake recipe ... also, check out my other site : www.adventuresinthriftiness.com. Don't ask me how I think I'm gonna keep both of these going!

How do you find the time to cook all of the cookies that I am sure EVERYONE you know wants? These sound so good! I am stealing this recipe and adding in walnuts. ;)
Adventurous Parent,

It is so hard to try and follow these tips, but they are so important! We try and recycle, because it saves us money. Right now, our taxes are so high (property, bills, credit) that we need to cut corners all over the place!
